In 1983 Judy Balaban-Krauss began Wellness Home Care in her kitchen in Warwick. Judy, a registered nurse, passionately believed that people should be cared for at home, where they maintain a greater degree of dignity, control and peace of mind. She understood that a home care agency depends upon building relationships between the agency, the caregiver, the client and their families. She made a commitment to assure that Wellness Home Care would operate ethically and with consideration for clients, families and employees. This mission continues to guide our efforts everyday.
Fran Schafer, a registered nurse, met Judy Balaban-Krauss in the early 1990s. Fran, a hospital oncology nurse became interested in home care and Judy became her mentor. Fran worked with Judy as a consultant over the years. In 1999, Judy asked Fran to join the team at Wellness Home Care as the Chief Operating Officer. Knowing Wellness Home Care's reputation, there was no refusing. Presently Fran is responsible for the daily operations, ensuring that people of all ages have access to dignified home care services in the comfort of home, provided by a dedicated and caring team of health care professionals. It is with pride and pleasure to be the COO of the finest home care agency in the Hudson Valley community.
